Rotary is a worldwide organization of business and professional leaders that provides humanitarian service, encourages high ethical standards in all vocations, and helps build goodwill and peace in the world. Approximately 1.2 million Rotarians belong to more than 32,000 clubs in more than 200 countries and geographical areas.

Members of a Rotary club are part of a diverse group of professional leaders working to address various community and international service needs and to promote peace and understanding throughout the world.

The International Fellowship of Scouting Rotarians is a group of Rotarians dedicated to promoting Scouting through Rotary for fellowship and service. This fellowship operates in accordance with Rotary International policy, but is not an agency of, or controlled by, Rotary International. They give active encouragement to the Scout Movement at local, national, and international levels.

 

ABOUT THE CLIFF DOCHTERMAN AWARD

This award for Rotarians serving Scouting is available through the International Fellowship of Scouting Rotarians, Inter-American Region. The award is named in honor former RI President Cliff Dochterman, a devoted scouter from Moraga, California, USA.

THE INSIGNIA & MEDALLION

The Dochterman Award, a bronze medallion hung from a gold and blue ribbon, may be awarded by a local Rotary Club or District Governor to an active Rotarian who has rendered exemplary service to scouting. For American Scouters, The Boy Scouts of America Relationships Committee has approved the wearing of the BSA Community Service Knot by Dochterman Award recipients who are members of the B.S.A.

RECEIVING THE AWARD

The Dochterman award is awarded and my not be applied for by the individual receiving the recognition. They must have been submitted by fellow Scouters and Rotarians.

To be eligible the individual must have contributed significantly to the Scout program and, concurrently be a member of Rotary International. Nomination forms are available from the IYFR web site.
